The Planet Pirates trilogy consists of three novels: Sassinak (March 1990), by Anne McCaffrey and Elizabeth Moon; The Death of Sleep (June 1990), by McCaffrey and Jody Lynn Nye; and Generation Warriors (February 1991), by McCaffrey and Moon. The stories are set in a fictional universe partly on the planet Ireta, which McCaffrey introduced in her 1978 novel Dinosaur Planet. A sequel, Dinosaur Planet Survivors, followed in 1984, and the Doubleday Science Fiction Book Club issued a 376-page omnibus of the two as The Ireta Adventure in 1985. The Internet Speculative Fiction Database catalogs all five novels as the Ireta series.

Sassinak follows a girl enslaved by raiders who later escapes and becomes a fleet captain hunting pirates. The Death of Sleep features Lunzie Mespil, a therapist specializing in cold sleep patients, who after a ship accident awakens in an unfamiliar future. Generation Warriors continues Sassinak's fight against pirates, with Lunzie called upon to help bring down a hidden crime syndicate, while Dupaynil makes a mistake in probing Sassinak's crew for a saboteur.
